The Finnish Board Game Association and Stoori Game Club proudly present the fourth JunaCon. This is the event for North European train game enthusiasts (Juna is Finnish for Train). You are very welcome to join us at T-House party room, located at Nummenmäki city district at the beautiful city of Turku. The address for the venue is Vanha Hämeentie 29. It can be easily reached from main Turku train-station by taking train towards Helskinki and disembarking the train at Kupittaa. You can also take bus number 2 from ”Kauppatori”.
The event starts at 2nd of March at 10:00am and ends on 3rd of March at 06:00pm. The ticket sales are open daily from 10.00am to 06:00pm but the games may continue later at evening. The tickets are 10€ for the whole weekend or 5€ if you are member of the Finnish Board Game Association (the membership fee is 5€ and can be paid on premises).
The entrance for T-house party-room is on the Karjakuja-street side, which also has some parking spaces.
The games are provided mainly by participants and you can take a peek what is offered, prebook a game or offer a game with ”Vimpeli”.

JunaCon III concluded, and it was a blast!
Thank you to all that came from all over Finland to play and have fun, it was great having you here! Between String Railway, Steam and 18XX, there were dozens of games to choose from. Congratulations to Tommi Lantta, who triumphed in the Ticket to Ride tournament for the third straight time!
We hope to see you again next year during JunaCon IV, tentatively scheduled for February-March 2013.
We will again this year attempt to run a tournament for the popular Days of Wonder game, Ticket to Ride.
Ticket to Ride has been the ”gateway game” for many around the world, has sold hundreds of thousands of copies, and is one of the most fun train-themed games around. Days of Wonder, the publisher organised a World Championship with preliminary rounds in many countries (although, sadly, not Finland), which culminated in the finals in Paris, with the winner receiving a set of 45 golden trains and a trip on the Orient-Express.
It was that event that inspired us to host the first tournament in JunaCon I, and we hope to repeat that this year. For more, please visit the TTR Tournament page.
This year, we’re on a boat!
JunaCon III is going the non-traditional route, and will be held at S/S Bore, Turku’s newest and hottest venue for train boardgaming this year. We can now confirm that on the weekend of March 24-25 Turku will be filled with the happy cries of Age of Steamers, the witty banter of Ticket to Riders and the stoic thinking of 18XXers.
The Ticket to Ride tournament is happening again this year, in a much more quick (and unforgiving) knock-out format, as long as enough players sign up.
We’ll have more news as they happen, but feel free to comment or contact us with questions.
So, only 3 days to go for JunaCon II, so start planning your visit, if you haven’t already. Also, the site is now also in Finnish!
Mayday Games is providing us with the 1st place prize for the Ticket to Ride tournament, a Premium Wooden Train Token Set. It is 450 wooden trains in 9 colours that are the same size as Ticket to Ride plastic trains. They come in 5 different types, which certainly adds to the enjoyment of the game.
The company is based in Utah, USA, and deals in board game bits, card sleeves, crokinole boards as well as board games. They are famous for sleeves that fit 7 Wonders, premium wooden toys and animeeples for Agricola.
We thank Mayday for their generosity and quality bits!
The next sponsor we would like to present is Lautapelit.fi – they have kindly provided us with various games to be given away at the event, and we thank them for their generosity.
